A: No. You do not have to be in top physical condition in order to cycle with Smokin’ Spokes. Most rides are moderately paced but please consult your doctor to better understand if cycling is right for you.
Q: Do I have to spend a lot of money for a bike?
A: No. Ideally, once you’ve determined you want to participate in the sport on a regular basis, you might want to invest in a good bike. Your body will feel the difference and thank you for it later.
Q: When is the best time to ride?
A: Anytime you have a free moment to get outdoors. Even if you ride 30 minutes, your body will need as much saddle time as possible, especially leading up to longer rides.
Q: If I ride with Smokin’ Spokes, will they leave me?
A: No. All group rides are just that, group rides. We all start together, take breaks together, and finish together.
Q: Do you actually ride on the streets of Chicago?
A: Yes. Chicago is a wonderful city that is becoming more bike friendly each year. There are dozens of bike lanes and trails to take you all over the city. Besides, riding on the sidewalk is illegal.
